Last night was the MSM concert. The principal cellist played piano for a Haydn Concerto. In his condenza he played a major major 7th chord. E2 had to preview this in the afternoon and discuss it at length with me. She also gave me a knowing glare from the stage as he played it. She’s a nut.

As is tradition last night at the holiday concert I sat in the audience waving furiously at E1 and E2 on stage.

This morning I passed E1 on the way from school after dropping off A-man at his school.

I opened the window and furiously waved. She waved back at she drove by.

Watching season 3 of Stranger Things with E2. We are addicted.

Saturday my wife Jen hosted my big 5-0 birthday party. She surprised me by having Chef Matt Storch from Match SoNo prepare all the food. We even had a Jen’s garden cook-off. What a special day.

Maybe violin is hard?

E2 and her teacher spent 5 minutes this afternoon on the topic of how an single F# can either be in tune with the D below or the A above, but not both. There are two different F#s that tune to A and D. And if you are playing a rising triad which version of F# you should tune?

I recall that as I play in D major on the piano tonight and don’t think about those details. (I do notice the piano needs to be tuned.)

Then again, I’m playing a lot more notes at the same time. So maybe the violinist are just making it harder on purpose so they feel better. Ha.
